It is a hybrid obtained by crossing two different varieties of Mandarin, the Fortune Mandarin and the Havana Mandarin. The fruit of the mandalate has a similar appearance to that of a traditional Mandarin, with an average weight of 100 grams.
Its orange skin is thin and easily peelable, unlike some varieties of Mandarin. The seasonality of mandalate is a bit different than other citrus fruits, with the harvest starting in February and continuing until April.
